Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme:- To provide healthcare facilities at the doorstep of the poor residents of Tamil Nadu, the respected chief minister MK Stalin launched a new scheme on 5th August 2021 known as Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme. A new scheme has been created by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu to provide doorstep healthcare facilities in the seven districts of the state. With the help of the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme, people who are above the age of 45 years will be screened and provided with medical facilities if found to be infected with non-communicable diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes. The main aim of launching the Tamil Nadu Doorstep Healthcare Scheme is to eliminate the visit of poor people to various hospitals. The chief minister has launched this scheme through video conferencing in the Krishnanagar district.

  • Around 1172 health sub-centers, 189 primary health centers, and 50 Community Health centers across 50 universal health coverage blocks are covered under this scheme.
  • Not only the screened facility but also the Medical Services and medicine facility will be provided to the patient under TN Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme.

TN Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme Objective

As we all know there are many people who due to their weak financial condition are not able to get health care facilities. And this condition leads to the death of the people. By keeping this in mind the chief minister of Tamil Nadu has come up with a new scheme known as Tamil Nadu Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme. Under this scheme, healthcare facilities will be provided to the citizens of the state at their doorstep. The main objective of launching this scheme is to help poor people with the best medicine and treatment of non-communicable diseases while staying at home only.

Facilitation of Medical Record

For the facilitation of Medical records of the Tamil Nadu state patients, the government has directed all the concerned officials to issue and provide Unique IDs to the patients enrolling under this scheme. This Unique Id will help them to integrate the medical records into their database for the easy identification of the patients.

Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme Achievement Highlights

The achievement highlights of this scheme are as follows:-

  • Door to door treatment facilities has been provided to the patients.
  • Free of cost treatment facilities have been provided to patients 45 years of age.
  • Around 7522 patients out of the 7500 eligible beneficiaries have been able to receive the treatment services.
  • Ramanathapuram district has covered about 13,586 patients by providing them with treatment services.

The inclusion of 25,000 health workers has been done for providing free of cost medical care services to the patients.

Inclusion of 45 Years of Patients

With the expansion of this scheme to the various districts of Tamil Nadu, Government is also going to expand the benefit of this scheme to the 45 years the patients so that they will also be able to get diagnosis facilities relating to the non-communicable disease. No one will be left out to get medical services. Medical facilities will be accessible at the doorstep of everyone.

Around 7,500 Of Patients Got Treatment

It will be surprising for you to know that around 7500 patients have been able to get benefits under the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme. They have been given treatment or diagnosis for non-communicable diseases. From each distinct, patients have visited their relevant health department. Women workers of Health Public have also visited the house to house each beneficiary.

Facilitation of Unique Health ID

For providing easiness while handling the digital records in the hospital database, the government is soon going to provide a Unique Health ID among the beneficiaries of this scheme. This ID will contain much information about the patient such as name, age, gender, mobile number and ration card number, etc. Through this card, patients will be able to get medical services very easily.

Around 2 Lakhs of Application Have Been Received

Government has received huge application requests from the Ramanathapuram district. Around 2 lakhs of applicants have applied for getting treatment under Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme. Patients of about 2 lakhs have been able to get free of cost treatment just around 20 days after getting registration. Essential medical facilities have been provided to them at their doorstep.

Launching of New Scheme

The Government of Tamil Nadu has launched a new scheme with the name Tamil Nadu Doorstep Healthcare Scheme. After getting registration, applicants will be able to get medical services provided at the doorstep of their houses. Citizens above the age of 14 years can get the treatment or diagnoses for non-communicable diseases.  

About 25,617 Applicants Got Covered Under New Scheme

Around 25,617 applicants have applied under the Tamil Nadu Doorstep Healthcare Scheme. Many of them have been able to get medicines delivered to them. Medicines have been provided to around 11,364 no. patients and about 7,497 patients have been diagnosed with the diabetes disease. There are around 5,217 no. patients who have diagnosed for the disease of both hypertension and diabetes.

Formation of Medical Team

For providing a home to home treatment of hypertension and diabetes, a Medical Team consisting of women public health workers, Women health volunteers, physiotherapists and nurses have been formed by the Government. Members of the medical team will provide physiotherapy treatments to the patients and senior patients by visiting their homes.  The government is soon going to hire 2500 health workers for this medical team.

Extension of New Scheme

The Government of Tamil Nadu has extended the benefit of the Tamil Nadu Doorstep Healthcare Scheme to the district of Salem and Motankuruchi for providing healthcare facilities or primary health centers at the doorstep of each eligible patient.  For providing a home to home medical services, the government will provide vehicles to the health workers of the medical team so that they will be able to get reach in time for providing treatment to the patients.

People Over The Age Of 45 Years Will Be Diagnosed

As we all know that this program will conduct door to door screening of the people. But the screening will be done for people over the age of 45 years in order to diagnose non-communicable diseases. The respected chief minister of Tamil Nadu has launched the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme in only seven districts for the first phase. Soon the scheme is going to be launched across the state in order to provide each and every 45 years of age the Medical Services free of cost. The main aim of launching this scheme is to provide healthcare facilities at the doorstep of the people.

More Than 75,000 People Got Treatment

After the launch of this successful Healthcare scheme, about more than 7,500 beneficiaries have received treatment for non-communicable diseases. The beneficiaries of all the age groups have visited the health department from their district. The treatments have been given to around 7522 beneficiaries for the various diseases. The women Public Health workers have visited door to door to the various beneficiaries under Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam. Each Beneficiary Will Get Unique Health ID

On 9th September 2021, the health minister MA Subramanian said that each and every person in Tamil Nadu will soon get a unique health ID. With the help of this health ID, the people of the state will easily be able to access Medicare and better health care facilities. This health ID will help us in keeping the digital record of the patient that is done in any of the hospitals. Health ID card is also a backbone for Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme. This health ID will consist of name age gender mobile number smart ration card number health ID Street details health sub-Centre of the beneficiaries.

2 Lakh Beneficiaries Got Registered Within 20 Days

After the launch of the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme, around 200000 beneficiaries have received the benefit in just 20 days of launching. The main aim of launching this scheme is to provide essential health care services to the people at their doorstep. According to the department, the maximum number of beneficiaries are from Ramanathapuram district with around 13,586 getting benefits. Under this scheme a team of doctors and health staff screen the aged people to get a patient of hypertension and diabetes.

TN Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme 25,617 People Are Covered

The Government of Tamil Nadu has created a new scheme to provide healthcare facilities to the doorstep of people on 7th August 2021. In only 3 days, 25,617 people are covered under Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme. Out of these patients, 11,364 patients get medicines delivered to their homes and 7,497 patients are found with diabetes. The scheme has also covered 5,217 patients who were found with both hypertension and diabetes. These patients got the delivery of drugs at their doorstep.

Tamil Nadu Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme Budget

The chief minister has created a new scheme to provide health care facilities at the doorstep of poor people. It will help in screening the patient and providing them with the medical supply that is needed. For the successful implementation of the Tamil Nadu Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme, the government has allocated a budget of Rs. 258 crore for the seven districts. This budget covers 1 crore people from the 30 lacs families. Around 1246 health workers, physiotherapists and 15 nurses have been appointed for the 7 districts under this scheme. The respected chief minister has also announced that this scheme will be implemented across the state till the end of this year.

To diagnose hypertension and diabetes of the citizens of the state, the medical team has been prepared by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It consists of women Public Health workers, women health volunteers, physiotherapists and nurses. These health workers will visit the patient and the senior citizens who require physiotherapy. Also, the state government will personally take stock of the medical supply that will be sent to the patient in case of need under the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme. Beginning of Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme In Salem

The district collector and other senior officials of the Salem district have started the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam Scheme at Motankuruchi. The beginning has been done in the primary health centers in order to provide the health care facilities at the doorstep. The vehicles will be given to the healthcare workers of each block present in the district. With the help of these vehicles, they will visit the patient in order to diagnose their treatment. If found any disease these agents will be rewarded with medicine and other medical facilities. Also, these workers will provide physiotherapy exercises to the person who is bedridden.

  • These volunteers diagnose the people who are 45 years of age and above.
  • Also the women will be screened for cervical and breast cancer.
  • The survey by these volunteers will be done once in a month to provide medicine and other facilities.
